Pondering the Conundrum: Who Am I
Pondering ‘WHO AM I?’ and it's close cousin, 'WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MY LIFE?' is not a common occurrence in the lives of most people. It arises at only those intense moments of catharsis and change like adolescence, mid-life or those stressful moments when life's circumstances shift the earth from beneath one's feet...the death of a loved one, parent or child; the ending of a marriage; the loss of a job; the diagnosis of disease; the tragedy of war. These events can cause one to, at least temporarily, focus attention on questioning the purpose of life, "What's it all about? Who am I?” There are a few individuals who make the leap from pondering the meaning and purpose of life motivated by tragic circumstances to pondering and self reflecting that is inspired simply by the joy and fulfilment that focused penetration into the meaning of life brings. Where do you stand on this continuum? Have you made that leap from being forced by tragedy to being inspired by choice?
